In this episode: It’s the Petty Party! Ted, John Young, and Michael McGauley do a roundtable of sorts to talk about Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers’ music, their lasting legacy, and even wade into Petty’s use of the Confederate flag during the Southern Accents Tour. The second segment has Ted reacting to Scottish post-rock band Mogwai’s latest record, “As the Love Continues” — which shot to the #1 position on the UK charts upon its release in February 2021. In the last segment, Ted spotlights a previously unpublished short story by the late poet and novelist Sylvia Plath called “Mary Ventura and the Ninth Kingdom.” Plath wrote the story when she was a 20-year-old student at Smith College. It has a “Twilight Zone” quality to it, but it’s also a fascinating look at the work of a noted writer in her early years.
